The value of the future- (2026)
He used to be a family man. Then nothing.
Gianluca squandered a fortune because of his gambling addiction. And along with the money, in one single blow, he also lost his wife’s love. Unable to live with the shame and the consequences of his mistakes, he decided to run far away from his hometown, leaving his teenage daughter alone with her mother.
Years later, Gianluca leads an unhappy life, trapped in self-imposed exile and daily monotony, stuck in a job that bores him in a city far too big for him. He’s simply waiting to die. Until one day, death really does knock at his door.
A diagnosis of a liver disease—deadly almost as much as his remorse—steals away what little time he has left. But it’s exactly at this point that Gianluca becomes convinced that he still has enough time. He can still turn his life around… or what’s left of it.
He returns to his hometown, determined to rebuild his relationship with his now-twenty-year-old daughter Sofia. He must confront the resentment of his ex-wife Giulia, who for obvious reasons does not want him back in their daughter’s life. He must once again face the darker habits of his family, embodied by his brother Nico, a small-time scammer who compensates for his unlawful tendencies with a kind heart. And he will rely on new friendships, such as the one with Assane, a Senegalese immigrant with whom he finds work in a factory that exploits its workers.
But above all, he must hide from everyone his greatest fear: he is about to leave again—this time for good.
Gianluca’s journey seems like a one-way trip, with an obvious ending. But the road to redemption is a tortuous path full of unexpected obstacles. To become a father again, Gianluca will not only have to face the mistakes of his past, but also look the future in the eye for the very first time
